நெற்பழம்

நெற்பழம் neṟpaḻm, பெ. (n.)

   1. அடுத்துவரும் விளைவின் குறைவைக் குறிப்பிக்கும் கறுப்புவிழுந்த தவசப் பழம்; matured grain marked with black spots, indicative of the next crop being scanty.

   2. நல்விளைவின் குறியாக முற்றி வெடிக்கும் நென்மணி (யாழ்ப்.);; rice grains bursting from rankness, indicative of a good crop.

   3. மழை மிகுதியாவதால் ஏற்படும் நெல்லின் நோய் (நெல்லை);; a disease affecting paddy, due to excessive rains.
